Except for a brief glimpse in The Frighteners, I hadn't seen Mel since her performance in Heavenly Creatures, which was in 1994. At the beginning of 1997, while we were first writing to each other, I asked her for some pictures so I could see what she looked like as an adult. This photo was taken at her old apartment in Wellington, New Zealand.
